RIBA Venues hosts 200 planners at speakeasy showcase

1930s jazz and a back-to-front buffet brought the fun as planners enjoyed the event at 66 Portland Place

RIBA Venues, the conference and events arm of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), hosted more than 200 event organisers at a speakeasy-themed venue showcase

The event included 1930s entertainment from jazz band Jivin Miss Daisy, health and wellness at events tips from speaker Nikki Cooper from Inner Me, as well as food concept the Taste Bud Challenge.

The Taste Bud Challenge was a back-to-front buffet where no food was what it seemed. Mushroom soup was disguised as coffee, carrot cake as sandwiches and mango panna cotta as boiled eggs.

There was also a mobile hair company which treated female guests to a 1930s hair makeover.

RIBA Venues’ head of venues Stephanie Ellrott said: “We were delighted to see so many meeting planners at our speakeasy event. It was a great opportunity for us to showcase what the venue offers with a few surprises along the way.”
