Red Letter Days delivers a ‘scent’ of fun for 1st Central Insurance

A perfume workshop proved a fun and successful team building event for the insurance company

Red Letter Days For Business has delivered a ‘fragrance apprenticeship’ workshop for insurance company 1st Central Insurance Management. The experience company was called upon by Sussex-based 1st Central Management as it was looking for a unique team building event for staff to help with the merger of two of its sales teams.

Red Letter Days for Business, which is owned by TV’s Dragons’ Den stars Peter Jones and Theo Paphitis, decided that a perfume workshop held at Buxted Park Hotel in East Sussex would be a good option for the event.

Alex Wilkinson, corporate events assistant for Red Letter Days, said: “We really wanted to create a team building event to get them working together, and also getting them out of their comfort zone.”

The employees were split into teams and had to create a new fragrance in the style of TV show The Apprentice.

Wilkinson continued: “We had a private meeting room set up like a boardroom and the groups were given 18 blends of perfumes to work with. They not only had to create a fragrance but they had to design their packaging, put together a marketing campaign and make an advert for television.

“It was great fun – very competitive, and they really enjoyed it.”

Darren Jeffrey, from 1st Central Insurance Management Ltd, said: “The feedback from my team has been phenomenal, everyone has stated how well the day went and how much fun it was to create their own scents. In fact, the next day everyone piled into my office wanting me to sample their new products - I was doused in an array of different smells!”
