SUBVENTIONS TO TOP ICCA DEBATE AGENDA

05/05/2005

The subject of subventions for international conferences could top the agenda for the summer debate for the UK chapter of the International Congress & Convention Association (ICCA).
At a meeting in Frankfurt during trade show IMEX, it was revealed that VisitBritain has been asked by the mayoral commission for a new convention centre in London to investigate the subject of subventions offered to conference organisers who bring events to England and Wales. The lack of a consistent approach means that the UK is not competitive and VisitBritain's Jeremy Brinkworth called for a global benchmarking process to make the competitive landscape more transparent.
