The Edinburgh and Aberdeen offices of travel management company Colpitts World Travel have been acquired by US-based Direct Travel.

Colpitts, also headquartered in the States, has worldwide sales of more than £70 million, and the Scottish operations will continue to trade under the current brand, while retaining all staff and management teams, totalling 25 employees between Aberdeen and Edinburgh.

Direct Travel says the acquisition of Colpitts, for an undisclosed sum, underlines its global growth ambitions.

Ian Scholes, Colpitts director of European operations, said: “This acquisition is an ideal fit for Colpitts because of Direct Travel’s outstanding management team, its long-term business strategy and value proposition. This strategic partnership allows an agency of our size to gain significant advantage with suppliers and allows us to deliver new innovative technologies and enhanced services to our customers.

“Direct Travel is affiliated with GlobalStar Travel Management, which gives us access to a network of leading travel management companies in more than 85 countries and 3,500 locations worldwide. Under the Direct Travel umbrella we can therefore offer even greater innovation and quality in the services we deliver for our clients.”
