‘Shake and Share’ app a winner for Meet Taiwan at ICCA

30/10/2012

Meet Taiwan triumphed at this year’s International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) Best Marketing Awards with its ‘Shake and Share’ meetings app.

The free (government-funded) app allows users to take photos and upload them to social media channels by shaking their smart phone, effectively turning delegates into destination promoters. It has been used by 13 international conferences, and more than 30,000 attendees from 60 countries have used the app.

It is estimated the app – which is reusable – has saved organisers EUR 420,000 (£338,000), simply because it’s free and they are not having to pay for a new app for every congress.

The Meet Taiwan team were announced as the winners at the closing session of the 51st annual ICCA congress in San JuanPuerto Rico, last week.

Taiwan beat off competition from Artion Conferences and Events (Greece), Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (Malaysia), and Netherlands Board of Tourism & Conventions (Netherlands).
