Sundial polls delegates to develop 'ideal' meeting venue

Sundial is steering refurbishment plans for its properties around research conducted among delegates, who said they prefer fresh air, sights and smells over "cramped" meeting rooms.

The residential venue group - which comprises Barnett Hill, Highgate House and Woodside - will install new lighting and furniture as a result of its survey, and will introduce scented candles as part of its Innovative Meeting Tool Kit.

Sundial asked delegates what they would like their conference space to look like in the future. Almost three-quarters said they wanted to escape the four walls of traditional meeting rooms and embrace outside space, with most appealing for multisensory events that use colour, sounds and smells. More than one-third said they wanted improved integration of technology.

Sundial MD Tim Chudley said: "We have fed the views of our guests into our ongoing refurbishment and investment plans. We will be installing new lighting, new furniture and facilities which will reflect the desire of today‚Äôs meeting planners and attendees for more flexible, free flowing and relaxed meeting environments.

"We will add to our outdoor areas to gain even greater benefit from the open air environment. We are also responding to the desire for connectivity by adding to the bandwidth and ease of use of our Wi-Fi networks."
