Martin Ellis, MD of Berkshire-based corporate meetings and events company Team Umbrella Ltd, is raising money for charity by walking from Land’s End to London.

Ellis is fundraising for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) by walking the 300 miles from Cornwall to the children’s hospital.

Anna Johnsson, head of operations at Team Umbrella, said: “At 52, although pretty fit, this is a huge task to undertake. Blisters, knee and hip problems along with crazy weather have done their best to try and slow him down, but he is soldiering on and hopes to reach the hospital on Friday 8 July.

“We are hugely proud of him for doing this and would love to see if he could raise just a bit more money for GOSH.”

Ellis said: “I want people to donate to GOSH and the bigger the challenge for me, the more I hope they’ll pay. It’s got to be worth it to see me suffer, after all!

“Great Ormond Street Hospital is a great charity, working to make a difference to those who need it more than most. Looking at children with life-threatening illnesses makes you realise that life really is too short.

“My aim in taking up this challenge is twofold – firstly, to raise money for a great cause; secondly, I hope this will encourage others to do the same. We can all make a small difference individually; together we can make a big difference.”
