UK event organisers got a glimpse into the "future of site inspections", at a showcase of Virtual Reality (VR) technology by Eventopedia and 8 Northumberland Avenue.

The group of 60 buyers were shown real life examples from London's first immersive VR event video and how the technology can be applied to boost brand engagement.

Toby Heelis CEO of Eventopedia said: “We have demonstrated that the future of venue site inspections is here today.  Utilising our range of virtual site inspection tours opens up greater potential that was previously limited due to geography, time and cost, which is a big win for event planners and forward-thinking venues."

Almost 80 per cent of event bookers said they would consider using VR at one of their events, but 90 per cent said they lacked knowledge of the technology.

Alan Newton, COO and founder of Eventopedia said: “We want to change the mind-set of using tech for tech’s sake and when it comes to VR, we want to show marketers the real business cases of the technology. By having the ability to visualise the kind of experience you want to create, marketers and communicators can start to build a comprehensive comms strategy – from content to event spaces.”
