The drpgroup invests £3.6m into new offices and people

17/08/2012

The drpgroup is investing £3.6m in its business, which is set to include a new £2.6m head office and £1m in technology and staff.

The agency has purchased a 4.2 acre site which will become its new head office, opening later this year. The building, which drp claims will be the largest corporate creative production facility of its kind in the UK, is located on the Ikon Trading Estate in the Midlands, where the business currently operates, but will bring together all the current facilities spaced around the estate under one roof.

The new space - which was originally built for use in the Second World War to store ammunition and is bomb-proof - will house the group’s administration, creative, event management, technical service, digital media, design and print, and video facilities. It will also have event space for up to 200 people, plus breakout rooms and a cinema screening room.

The drpgroup, which also has an office in London, has also opened a new northern office, just outside Leeds. Headed by drpgroup director of strategy, Julie Davidson, the office currently has three staff to serve its northern-based clients. Currently the office offers strategic, creative, event management and logistics operations, with digital and media production to be added next year.

With 50 new people joining the company in the past two and a half years and an aim to employ a further 100 people over the next three years, managing director Dale Parmenter said there was a need to expand and invest in the business.

“We are all aware that the country and the marketplace have been hit by the ongoing economic troubles. This isn’t the first recession we have been through and successful businesses are the ones who use this time to invest. Once we reach the end of this tunnel, we are going to need to be prepared to propel our business forward and this new investment will help us do that. It’s exactly what we did after the last recession and it fuelled the growth which has put us in the position we are today.”
