For the third year running, Leeds Beckett University and the University of Leeds are hosting 3,000 delegates at the UK’s largest teacher training event, worth a total of £8m in investment to the city.

The Teach First Summer Institute sees teachers attend a range of training sessions and events, culminating with the two-day annual Impact Conference, the largest dedicated to educational inequality in the UK.

Leeds Beckett University’s conferencing arm, Well Met, has worked in conjunction with MEETINLEEDS at the University of Leeds to host the event since it first came to the city in 2014.

Reuben Moore, director – leadership at Teach First, said: “We’re excited to be back in Leeds for the third year running for the culmination of our Summer Institute, which marks the start of our participants’ two year leadership journey with Teach First.

“Impact Conference is fast becoming an unmissable date in the education calendar. It’ll bring a host of the biggest names in education, policy and business to Leeds to share their expertise, discuss the hot topics, and build a movement for change.”

First direct arena is set to provide additional venue space, while accommodation providers Unite, University of Leeds, Leeds Beckett University and Campus Living Villages are set to provide extra bedrooms.

This year Siemens has been announced as the Impact Conference headline sponsor and TES as the exclusive media partner.
