UK corporates choose Europe venues despite Brexit

Germany and USA share top spot in popularity league table

Despite the imminent exit from the EU, the UK’s corporate event organisers continued to stage events in continental Europe with 45 per cent of UK corporate clients choosing international venues for their events during 2017.

The results from The British Meetings & Events Industry Survey (BMEIS) show Germany to be the preferred overseas destination among respondents – equally as popular as the USA with both countries attracting 37 per cent of respondents - with Spain in second place with 29 per cent.

In third place, 25 per cent chose the Netherlands for events, ahead of France which was used by 21 per cent of respondents. These were followed by Belgium (17 per cent), Portugal (17 per cent) and both Republic of Ireland and South African were used by 12 per cent of respondents.

The British Meetings & Events Survey is carried out annually by The Right Solution and is based on researching the activities of 500+ corporate and association meeting planners in the UK. The survey shows 27 per cent of corporate events employed third party assistance for their events while 11 per cent seek information on destinations from convention bureaux.
