More than 77,000 conference delegates are set to arrive in Vienna for 10 large conferences, as the Austrian capital looks towards one of its 'strongest' years to date.

The busy year follows new strategy from Austria Center Vienna, the country's largest conference venue, along with a wide-scale refurbishment.

Eight of the 10 forthcoming conferences will be medical focused, including the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) which will welcome 20,000 radiologists, as well as the European Geosciences Union (EGU), seeing 14,000 delegates arrive in April.

Austria Center Vienna's MD Susanne Baumann-Söllner, said: "2016 is shaping up to be a very strong year. I’m very pleased that our efforts over the past few years – not only the redesign of the venue, in particular the new furniture, the Business Lounge and the new lighting concept in Hall A, but also the dedication of our sales team and project managers when it comes to staging conferences – are now clearly bearing fruit," she said.

"In the last three years we have shown just how effective the Austria Centre Vienna is at staging successful international congresses."
