Tivoli Hotels & Resorts to add Tivoli Évora Ecoresort to Portuguese portfolio

Tivoli Hotels and Resorts has announced its first property in the historic city of Évora, in the Alentejo region of Portugal, joining the brand’s other properties in Portugal, Brazil and Qatar. The Tivoli Évora Ecoresort, scheduled to launch later this year, will be a nature retreat, located on the plains of Portugal’s south-central Alentejo region, just a five-minute drive from the historic centre of Évora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a one-hour drive from the capital Lisbon. As part of a refurbishment programme, a new villa with nine guest rooms and a private outdoor swimming pool will be added to the resort. The Ecoresort will also include a spa, indoor swimming pool, sauna, Turkish bath and fully equipped fitness room.

Somerset House launches additional DDR packages for up to 60 guests

A set of 18th century rooms, which were once home to the Navy Board for overseeing British Naval affairs, can now be hired for the first time as a day delegate rate package at Somerset House in London. Somerset House has launched new Navy Board Rooms packages in response to demand for smaller conferences. The three flexible rooms can be used for a variety of purposes and have a capacity of 60 theatre-style. These event spaces offer guests spectacular views across the River Thames together with flexible catering and breakout spaces.

Brighton’s Amex Stadium scores at industry awards night

Brighton’s Amex Stadium scored a hat-trick of successes at the Stadium Experience awards recently. Not only was the Brighton & Hove Albion stadium chosen to host the 2018 ceremony, but its catering and events partner Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events scooped two gongs during the course of the evening. The awards recognise the efforts and dedication shown by the catering, conference and events teams at every football and rugby stadium across the UK and Ireland. The Sodexo PV&E team saw off competition from football clubs such as Southampton and Chelsea to be named Best Stadium Events Venue for ‘consistently displaying exceptional venue facilities and outstanding guest experiences’. It also won the Best Digital Enquiry Award following a mystery shopper-style email enquiry. The event was the 14th annual awards organised by Stadium Experience, and this year 70 football and rugby clubs were nominated for awards, with 25 stadium venues scooping at least one of 39 gongs across 13 categories.

Renaissance Paris Vendome refurb unveiled

The Renaissance Paris Vendome Hotel has been unveiled following a multi-million euro transformation of its guest rooms and public spaces. The intimate 97-room hotel is located in the heart of the historic 1st arrondissement and is inspired by the fashion designers and jewellers that have had their salons in the neighbourhood, contrasting 18th century style with contemporary design. The hotel’s buzzy Le Studio lobby lounge will host locally-inspired events to showcase emerging talent in music and the arts, while the newly created venue L’Atelier is a blank space for clients to create tailored events, from co-working hub to showroom, and private dinners to pop-up exhibitions.

National Trust Scotland launches new experiences

With a unique portfolio of venues and estates located throughout Scotland, 2018 will see the launch of an exciting range of new experiences by National Trust Scotland. The events include Georgian House Parties - where guests and delegates can entertain in 18th century society style with a private Butler and his staff. Champagne receptions and opulent dinners in elegant city town-houses and magnificent stately homes are all available. Other experiences include culinary evenings, champagne summer picnics, nature walks, team challenges, Highland Games and treasure hunts. Car rallies and hot air balloon rides can also
be arranged.

DoubleTree by Hilton Moscow Vnukovo Airport opens

DoubleTree by Hilton Moscow Vnukovo Airport has opened, offering panoramic airport views, contemporary regional cuisine and more than 1,000 sqm of meeting and event space accommodating up to 900 attendees. The 432-room property is located at the main entrance to Terminal A and connected to the airport via an underground tunnel, as well as being just 10 minutes from the Private Jets Terminal. It offers quick and easy access to and from the centre of Moscow via high-speed train connections, including close proximity to the 2018 World Cup venue Luzhniki Stadium. The event space includes two pillar-free ballrooms and six additional meeting rooms with floor to ceiling windows.

Hotel Pacai opens in Vilnius

The Hotel Pacai has opened in the Old Town of Vilnius, Lithuania. With 94 rooms, ten suites and four conference spaces, this stylish hotel also includes a spa, lounge bar, bistro and fine dining restaurant headed by Claus Meyer, of Noma fame. Located in a glorious 17th century mansion, the central courtyard will showcase a series of artistic events.

Artworks unveiled for New Zealand convention centre

Two of the largest pieces of public art ever created in New Zealand will soon adorn the exterior of the New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC), currently under construction in central Auckland. The works by two New Zealand artists, Sara Hughes and Peata Larkin will span a total of 5,760 sqm once installed on the four external walls of the NZICC. The two artworks comprise 2,400 sqm of glass over 550 panels that wrap around the top level of the NZICC, and 13,500 terracotta tiles that form a spine wall alongside the retail and dining laneway beside the new centre.
