Meet in the Tower Bridge district with Grange

The Grange Tower Bridge Hotel has opened in the heart of the City of London, offering 370 guest bedrooms and suites, a comprehensive Business Centre and Executive Club Lounge, together with a gym, 25m pool and luxurious Ajala Spa offering a range of beauty and holistic treatments. Its purpose-built Conference and Events Centre spans two floors, comprising 13 meeting and banqueting suites boasting natural daylight and fully integrated AV technology. The Grange Tower Bridge also incorporates solar and P.V. panels, and has a borehole for its own water supply – making it one of the most energy-efficient hotels to open in London.

IET Glasgow: Teacher Building gets a revamp

IET Glasgow: Teacher Building has unveiled a new reception area and St Enoch Lounge which occupies the majority of the ground floor of the city venue. The new space replaces staff offices behind the reception area to provide an open, light and flexible lounge that can be used for communal catering and break-out sessions. The area is also equipped with free, recently upgraded Wi-Fi and plasma screens. The St Enoch Lounge also offers availability for evening hire for networking, drinks receptions or informal buffets.

Chelsea Football Club offers a new room with a view

Chelsea Football Club has expanded its portfolio with the refurbishment of Centenary Hall for meetings and events. Previously the space that held the Chelsea FC museum, Centenary Hall has been fully refurbished to accommodate 350 for dinner or 600 for a reception and can be partitioned to create separate reception and dining areas. Available on non match days, the space has direct views over the pitch and includes use of the football terraces for drinks receptions. The Stamford Bridge events portfolio includes 21 event spaces including the Great Hall, syndicate rooms, two hotels, four restaurants and bars including two by Marco Pierre White, and music venue Under The Bridge.

Covent Garden hotel reopens after £15m refurb

The Mercer Street hotel has reopened in Covent Garden after a £15m refurbishment. Formerly called The Mountbatten, The 137-room Radisson Edwardian property is located at the heart of Seven Dials, and features up-to-date Apple TV technology in every room, free Wi-Fi. For meetings, events and conferences, there are six meeting rooms capable of hosting up to 50 people and they are equipped with the latest HD and touch-screen technology. Features also include Japanese-style “Bento Boxes”, served at lunchtime to delegates. There is also a fitness room and Dial – a bar and restaurant which serves modern European dishes with market-fresh British produce.

Radisson Edwardian opens its doors in Guildford

The 183-room Radisson Edwardian Guildford has now opened. The hotel offers complimentary Wi-Fi throughout, mobile phone hire and a full service business centre, while bedrooms have laptop safes and a personal phone number with voicemail. Facilities include flexible event space, which can be subdivided into three rooms or opened up to hold a cocktail reception for up to 400. In addition, there are three meeting rooms with natural daylight (two hold 30 each theatre-style and may be combined), plus a board room for 12. For dining there is a choice of two contemporary restaurants - Market Kitchen & Bar, a Mediterranean-inspired bistro and Relish for traditional British dishes. Daily delegate rates start from £65 for a half day, £85 for a full day and £325 for 24 hours.

Scarman’s doors reopen after £2m refurbishment

Scarman - the largest of Warwick Conferences’ three training and conference centres - has reopened following an extensive £2m renovation and refurbishment programme. The reception, gallery, Lakeview restaurants, lounge and bar have been completely revamped - these areas have received new floor and wall coverings, decoration, flooring, windows, furniture and refreshment facilities. Six syndicate rooms have also been upgraded to incorporate built-in AV equipment. Low energy lighting has been introduced in line with Warwick Conferences’ ongoing commitment to reducing the environmental impact of its venues.

Festive Crystal Courtyard pops up at Dartmouth House

Lime Venue Portfolio’s Dartmouth House has installed a new venue, the ‘Crystal Courtyard’, to maximise the space on offer from September to December. The exclusive pop-up courtyard will be great for the festive season, with its oversized lanterns and crystal lights reflecting in the courtyard’s fountain. The added venue will increase the capacity for Christmas parties and events to 400 delegates over both floors. The structure extends the full length of the courtyard, allowing visitors to look out onto the French Rocco-style Mews House and enjoy the architectural style of Dartmouth House. The Crystal Courtyard is open from now until 22 December 2011.

Homage Bar opens at the Waldorf Hilton

The Waldorf Hilton, situated on Aldwych, London, has re-launched its Homage Bar exclusively for private bookings. Homage, previously the hotel’s cocktail bar, has become an exclusive venue following the opening of the hotel’s flagship bar, Good Godfrey’s Bar and Lounge, earlier this year. The versatile space is suitable for a range of events catering for up to 50 people, such as breakfast meetings, networking events, presentations, product launches and more. Cocktail parties are also available, with a private cocktail-making lesson hosted by the hotel’s award-winning mixology team.
