The Montpellier Chapter, Cheltenham


Chapter Hotels has opened its first British hotel, The Montpellier Chapter, in Cheltenham. Located in the Montpellier area of Cheltenham, the Grade II listed building has been transformed with the addition of a contemporary crescent-shaped wing and a striking inner courtyard, surrounded by coloured glass. The hotel’s 61 unique rooms each feature a complimentary mini bar, free WiFi, iPod Touches, espresso machines and original artwork. Other facilities include a 74-cover restaurant with theatre kitchen, which opens out onto a garden room, terrace and landscaped courtyard. Backed by Swire Hotels, the team behind The Opposite House in Beijing and The Upper House in Hong Kong, The Montpellier Chapter is the first of a portfolio of hotels under the Chapter Hotels brand that will open in the heart of key regional cities in Britain.
 

Mint Hotel Tower of London, London


City Inn has rebranded as Mint Hotel to coincide with the opening of a new hotel in London. Its second property in the capital – Mint Hotel Tower of London, in Pepys Street - opens this month with 583 rooms. Features include the Tower of London SkyLounge, which offers uninterrupted views of the Tower of London as well as meeting and private dining rooms and extensive roof gardens. Fenchurch Lounge is a stylish lounge bar on the newly pedestrianised Savage Gardens, while City Café is a large modern British brasserie. Every room has a fully functioning iMac with Skype and free satellite TV as well as complimentary video library. All Mint hotels have free to use WiFi throughout.
 

Menzies Cambridge Hotel & Conference Centre


Menzies Cambridge Hotel & Conference Centre in Cambridgeshire has completed a major investment programme. Situated off the A14 and close to the historic city centre, the conference and training offering now represents one of the East Anglia’s most progressive facilities, from discreet boardroom meetings to events and seminars up to 200. All 11 rooms have been re-designed including a new lighting system that maximises light to a thought-inducing 400 lumens. Flat screen TVs, ceiling-mounted projectors and repeaters have been installed and free WiFi is provided throughout. Menzies Hotel & Conference Centre boasts 136 bedrooms, an 18-hole par 71 golf course, on-site gym, pool and treatment rooms. Day delegate rates start from £40 inc VAT and 24-hour rates from £135 inc VAT.
 

Park Inn by Radisson Aberdeen


The new Park Inn by Radisson Aberdeen hotel, is situated just off the main shopping thoroughfare, Union Street. It has 185 bedrooms and suites, a bar, restaurant, resident-only gym and eight modern meeting rooms, with capacities ranging from 12 to 200 people. The meeting facilities include a large conference room which can be divided into three smaller rooms and five boardrooms with floor to ceiling windows. All have wireless internet access and the latest audio-visual equipment. Each of the meeting rooms is named after pop and rock stars, including The Lennox, The Bruce, The Stewart, The Angus, The Presley and The Beatles. Delegate day rates currently start at £39.
 

No.11 Cavendish Square, London


Based in the heart of the capital, No.11 Cavendish Square will unveil a new look at the start of next year. Planned refurbishment of the 200 capacity conservatory (due to be complemented by 4 January) will see the event space transformed into an 18th Century inspired scented ‘Orangery’. Architects based No.11’s conservatory on Belton House, a National Trust venue in Lincolnshire. Brass sconces will decorate the Orangery which will house 16 mandarin orange trees, as well as olive and kumquat trees. Brass sculptures will feature in the courtyard garden which already boasts a ‘living wall’ installation and candle lit water fixture. No.11 Cavendish Square counts 30 luxurious rooms and several lecture theatres.
 

Park Plaza County Hall wins Best Employer award


London's Park Plaza County Hall has been named Best Employer at the prestigious Springboard Awards For Excellence. The four-star de luxe hotel has an ongoing investment programme in training and recruitment which helped it fight off stiff competition. Springboard helps young, unemployed and disadvantaged young people into hospitality careers.
 

Dish becomes preferred supplier at V&A Museum of Childhood


Caterer Dish has been added to the preferred supplier list at the V&A Museum of Childhood, the RAF Museum and Sunbeam Studios, all in London. Under the guidance of head chef Tom Gore, Dish’s culinary team will produce a range of menus and bespoke creations. The V&A Museum of Childhood is a Grade II listed Victorian building offering three event spaces for evening receptions and gala dinners, plus modern meeting rooms for small conferences. The RAF Museum can host up to 800 guests at a reception and Sunbeam Studios, one of the earliest automobile factories and car showrooms in the world, now a photographic studio and events space, offers the Main Hall, Talbot Hall and a garden.
 

The Waterfront Conference Suites at Wyboston Lakes Hotel


Wyboston Lakes has renamed its Waterfront Conference Centre following a £300,000 investment. The meeting and training facilities at the centre will now be called The Waterfront Conference Suites at Wyboston Lakes Hotel. The Suites offer 28 air-conditioned meeting rooms with the largest room seating up to 130 delegates theatre-style.
The original central coffee lounge has now been separated from the conference suite facilities and redeveloped as a lounge for the use of corporate and leisure customers. A refurbished covered walkway has also been created, leading to the site’s AA Rosette Waterfront Brasserie. The reception area has also been re-orientated and extensively refurbished.
