Fontwell Park, Chichester


Fontwell Park Racecourse’s new £6.5m grandstand opens with a Ladies Evening on 19 August. The new grandstand is designed with a panoramic view of the unique figure-of-eight jump racing track near Chichester, and will provide a panoramic hospitality suite for more than 250 guests with prices starting from £75 per person. Twelve hospitality boxes with their own balcony and private bar will also be available, and can be booked for a single meeting or on an annual basis.
 

River Room, Millbank Tower, London


The River Room is a lovely new events space for up to 450 guests. Situated within Millbank Tower and offering great views of the River Thames, it is venue group Altitude London’s newest venue space. In-house caterer is Salt and Pepper. The 7,000 sqft River Room is the third available space in Millbank Tower – the others being The Cinema and Media Centre, which is currently being used by the Conservative Party as their election broadcast HQ, and Altitude 360, which boasts glorious views of the London skyline from its 29th floor location.
 

Marvel Super Heroes 4D


From June onwards London’s Madame Tussauds will be the only location for a truly ‘super’ event. Marvel Super Heroes 4D brings to life some of Marvel’s best loved Super Heroes through a mix of 4D animation, interactive themed areas and realistic wax figures of six of Marvel’s most famous names – Spider-Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, Wolverine, Nick Fury and The Invisible Woman. Taking up 900sqm over three floors, the experience also offers the chance for guests to ‘turn hero’ in a series of interactive experiences including walking on the ceiling with Spider-Man and stepping into Iron Man’s chest shield.
 

Town Hall Hotel


A former East London town hall has reopened as a hotel. The aptly named Town Hall Hotel and Apartments makes the most of the building’s Edwardian architecture. The carefully restored conference & banqueting rooms include The Council Chamber, an impressive art-deco room with walnut panelling and raised seating for up to 70 people, and Bethnal Hall, which is made up of four interconnected rooms that can be separated by vertically sliding walls of polished wood or joined together to make a banqueting or conference space for up to 200. The building is a popular film location and has featured in Atonement, Brideshead Revisited and Poirot.
 

Alfresco at Lords


A range of new outdoor event spaces have been made available at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. Alfresco events and receptions can now take place on the Pavilion Roof Terrace, Mound Stand Terrace or the tranquil surroundings of the Harris Garden. With menus created by head chef Steven Smith, English provenance is the dish of the day with organic meat sourced from award-winning Pipers Farm, Cullompton and fresh vegetables and herbs delivered daily. Organisers of summer events can choose from canapé or more laid back bowl food menus or opt for the seasonal searing barbecue menus.
 

The Boiler House


A spark of life has been breathed into London’s Battersea Power Station with the launch of a new venue inside the iconic building. The Boiler House at Battersea Power Station is a 1,000-capacity temporary structure with a clear gable end and roof section offering impressive views of the power station’s chimneys. The new venue will help the Grade II listed building earn revenue while its Irish owner, Treasury Holdings, awaits planning permission for a £3bn redevelopment scheme that includes more than 3,700 homes on the site. Event management company industri management has permission to use the space for three years.
 

The Games Lounge


The Games Lounge in Bradford’s National Media Museum is a brand new attraction where corporate event guests can plug into the history of videogaming and play classic games in their original arcade or console formats including Asteroids, Manic Miner, Frogger and Street Fighter. For evening corporate events, including canapé receptions for up to 300 and seated dinners for up to 150, guests will be able to play their way through the titles that helped videogaming become one of the most successful entertainment industries in the world; from the sensational Pong (1972) to celebrated releases from the 1990s such as Super Mario Kart and 007 Golden Eye.
 

Wild Asia at Chessington


An ancient and mysterious land has been uncovered at Chessington World of Adventures. Wild Asia includes spinning disc ride KOBRA, the Lorikeet Lagoon walkthrough aviary and Maharaja’s Market. The Explorers Outpost hospitality space, located in the heart of Wild Asia, has also been newly refurbished.The theme park’s new addition is being promoted as an ideal venue for family events. A Family Adventure Days package has been created for groups of between 50-450 guests, which can be enhanced by adding the Explorers package were guests will meet birds and reptiles, have their face painted, create a treasure map and take part in a scavenger hunt. A Jungle Drums workshop can also be included.
