One Drummond Gate, London

Venue provider etc.venues will be launching the tenth venue in its portfolio in May. Located at One Drummond Gate in Victoria, the London venue will be the organisation’s second launch of 2011 after the doors opened at its new Paddington venue in March. One Drummond Gate has a capacity for 250 people, with ten meeting/conference spaces and outdoor areas for events.

St. Ermin's Hotel, London

Hotel group Accor will launch its first MGallery hotel in the UK in April when the St. Ermin's Hotel in St. James, London, reopens following an extensive £30m restoration. The 331-room hotel features a balconied ballroom which can host up to 150 for a conference, 220 people for a banqueting event or up to 300 for a cocktail reception. The adjoining Cloisters room can hold up to 110 for conferences. There are a total of 15 meeting rooms available at St. Ermin's.

DoubleTree by Hilton London-West End

DoubleTree by Hilton has now opened the latest addition to the brand, the DoubleTree by Hilton London-West End. Formerly the Bonnington Hotel and the Park Inn London, Russell Square, the 214-bedroom hotel is adjacent to the British Museum and close to plenty more London attractions. The DoubleTree by Hilton London-West End features 12 flexible conference rooms with audio/visual equipment and communications technology and a 248 sqm boardroom which can seat up to 200 guests reception-style. A 24-hour, on-site business centre is also available.

Dartmouth Golf & Country Club

Dartmouth Golf & Country Club has started work on a £100,000 renovation of its function facilities. Due to be completed by the end of March, the venue will have two new rooms – the Devonshire Suite and the Dartmouth Suite. The Devonshire will hold up to 160 people, while the Dartmouth will cater for up to 60 people. A new contemporary lounge bar area has also been added. In addition to the new rooms, the conference and events centre will be fully refurbished with new carpets and curtains and the private terrace, overlooking the golf course, is set to be revamped upon completion of the current work.

The Grove in Hertfordshire

The Grove in Hertfordshire will host a major exhibition of sculpture this summer, which conference delegates can also enjoy. Running from 1 May to 31 August, ‘Sculpture at The Grove’ will feature 60 small and monumental pieces in figurative and abstract styles by members of the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of British Artists, among others. Delegates attending events at the hotel can take a one-hour private tour led by curator, Virginia Grub. It costs £200 for up to 14 delegates.

ZSL London Zoo, London

ZSL London Zoo has launched new team-building experience, ‘I’m a delegate…get me out of here’. It sees groups of 8-300 people separated into teams and set challenges that take them on a great adventure around the grounds. From searching for clues amongst the butterflies, or unravelling mysteries by the monkeys, teams will have to work together to finish the challenge the fastest, and make it back to base. The experience costs from £59.50 (exc. VAT) per person.

Queenswood, Leeds Metropolitan University

Well Met Conferencing, the conference office for Leeds Metropolitan University, has added a new residential offering. Queenswood, which is located at the Headingley Campus, features four bedrooms and a grand dining room which is ideal for hosting private dining. The venue offers natural daylight and free car parking as well as spaces for up to 50 delegates for receptions and up to 14 for a banquet or board meeting.

St Moritz Hotel & Spa, Cornwall

The 45-bedroom, four-star St Moritz Hotel & Spa in Cornwall, has launched an accessibility suite for disabled guests. Owner Hugh Ridgway worked closely with consultant Brian Seaman of Tourism for All to design the suite. It includes low level storage, a bed to bath hoist, emergency drop cords, body drier and Clos-o-Mat Lima Lift ‘wash and dry’ toilet, plus a separate room for the guest’s carer if required. In addition, a wet wheelchair and dipper have been installed in the leisure complex to provide easy access to the spa and pool. The independent hotel can also accommodate small meetings for up to 35 delegates.
