Rooftop pool for Nimb, Copenhagen

The Nimb Hotel in Copenhagen’s iconic Tivoli Gardens will have a further extension with the addition of a brand-new roof terrace (complete with rooftop pool and bar), a sports club (equipped with the latest high-tech equipment), and new treatment rooms.The extension will be completed by the end of summer 2018, this will add to the completion of the 21 new suites in the newly built Tivoli Corner – resulting in a new 2,000 sq. metre wing to the hotel. The new suites include a private balcony that faces Tivoli Gardens.As well as Nimb Hotel, Tivoli Corner houses several restaurants and the Tivoli Food Hall.

Royal College of Physicians offers Catchbox

The Royal College of Physicians is now offering event professionals the chance to use a Catchbox, the world’s first throwable microphone. The RCP has two Catchbox devices, an alternative to the traditional hand held microphone, for use at events held at the venue. Catchbox is the world’s first soft, wireless microphone that delegates can throw and catch to kick-start a discussion. Natacha Allen, head of sales & marketing at the RCP, said: “Despite celebrating our 500th birthday this year we are certainly not looking backwards. The Royal College of Physicians already offers state of the art audio-visual services, but the Catchbox allows us to really integrate technology with the audience experience to deliver even richer and deeper engagement.”

Warren House reveals new look London Room

Warren House in Surrey has revealed its new-look London Room following a £300,000 renovation. A two month renovation has seen the room in the Grade II-listed Victorian country house refurbished to better cater for conferences and private events. The London Room, which can host up to 100 guests for a reception, has been redesigned, air conditioning has been fitted and brand new equipment and flooring have been installed. General manager Miguel Abellan van Kan said: “The London Room needed to be updated to keep in theme with the rest of the house by giving it a 21st-century look whilst maintaining its rich history. It’s now bright and airy with a lot more lighting and natural daylight. This refurbishment means the room is now multi-purpose.”

Royal Horticultural Halls unveils Asian list

The Royal Horticultural Halls has launched its inaugural Asian catering supplier list. Lorraine Thorne, venue sales manager, said “Our new list ensures that we can deliver a variety of authentic Asian dishes for every style of event from exhibitions and conferences to weddings and parties.” Raj Somaiya, MD of Payal Events, which features on the list, said: “We are proud to be working with the Royal Horticultural Halls’ amazing spaces for large events, it’s such a rarity in central London. We look forward to holding some incredible events with our traditional and fusion menus.”

Wyboston Lakes Resort to spend £3 million

Wyboston Lakes Resort, the single site conference and leisure venue, located on 380 acres between Cambridge and Milton Keynes, has announced its plans to spend over £3m on its premium conference venue. This will bring the total investment in the Resort to over £10m. The purpose built residential Conference venue offers premium meeting and event facilities with a full spectrum of residential and non-residential events. Director at Wyboston Lakes, Steve Jones commented: “The investment into our premium conference venue signifies our long term plans for this venue by investing in it to give us a competitive advantage and preparing it for the next 10 years of business. In the coming decade we must appeal to the millennial and Gen Y market to ensure we remain competitive and keep winning business.

Tortue Hotel to open in Hamburg

Tortue, Hamburg will open this summer. The hotel will contain 114 bedrooms, eight suites and four long stay apartments, alongside excellent event spaces.There will also be five food and drink outlets, as well as a rooftop space with unrivalled views of Hamburg. The hotel will contain 126 rooms (114 double rooms, 8 suites, 4 long stay apartments,) three rooms (for 10, 12 and 26 people) for meetings and private dining as well as a breakout zone for approx. 40 people. The Bar Bleu (Lobby bar) can accommodate approx. 30 people. The Bar Noir (Day and night bar) has space for approx. 150 people, including a sunroom and terrace. Bar privé is large enough for 100 people, including a dancefloor and the Brasserie has space for approx. 130 people, including a balcony. Other areas include the rooftop, for approx. 100 people and JIN GUI (an Asian inspired kitchen) for approx. 160 people including sunroom and terrace.

Banqueting House to open for daytime events

Banqueting House, one of the capital’s most prestigious meeting spaces will now open for daytime events. Since 1622, it has played host to kings, queens and courtiers. Banqueting house has a host of spaces to suit all kinds of corporate events, from intimate meetings to grand conferences. The impressive and versatile space can accommodate up to 400 guests and has now launched a new offer which allows a full day closure for events on any Thursday, excluding school holidays.

Wychwood Park focuses on wellness

Wychwood Park & Golf Club has come up with a programme of wellness focused activities and offerings. Located near Crewe, Wychwood Park Hotel & Golf Club benefits from its beautiful Cheshire countryside for scenic walks and runs. The team at Wychwood have mapped two running routes through the local area. The routes are 1.13km and 3.80km in distance and provide a moderate challenge for corporate guests keen to keep up their training or exercise plan while away from home. In addition, the team have organised a selection of commonly used circuit style equipment for guests to make use of in private spaces in the evenings. Suggested training programmes are also provided.
