National Science and Media Museum expands


The National Science and Media Museum in Bradford has expanded its events offering with the addition of its 'Make Space room', which boasts views across Bradford city. 'Make Space' can be used as a standalone events space, accommodating up to 70 for a dinner or housing an exhibition to make use of the blank canvas décor and natural light from the panoramic window. Alternatively, clients can also hire Make Space in conjunction with one of the museum’s galleries as an additional area to serve food or provide entertainment during the event, maximising the use of the venue and delivering a multi-room event journey for guests.
 

The Lume Hotel opens in Manchester


The Lume hotel has celebrated its official opening on Oxford Road in Manchester. The new 19-storey hotel development, which is dual branded with both Crowne Plaza and Staybridge Suites hotel brands, has officially opened and is welcoming its first guests. The newly built 328-room hotel development is owned by M&L Hospitality and managed by Cycas Hospitality. Occupying the lower 12-storeys, Crowne Plaza Manchester features 212 guest rooms, a 120-seat restaurant, bar, fully equipped 24-hour gym, club lounge and seven meeting rooms catering for over 200 delegates.
 

Radisson Blu opens in Bruges


Radisson Blu has announced its latest hotel opening in the historic city of Bruges, Belgium. The 109-room hotel is located in the UNESCO World Heritage City, and is within walking distance of the Grand Place and the medieval city center (De Markt) that dates back to the 12th century. The hotel has 109 guestrooms (featuring 19 family rooms) and features six meeting rooms, fitting between two and 104 people. The meeting rooms are set out on two floors and include the spacious 12th floor events space that offers breathtaking views across the center of Bruges.
 

Shanghai EDITION to open in October


The Shanghai EDITION will debut in October 2018. Ian Schrager’s latest project is billed as an “unprecedented blend of leisure and entertainment within one luxury hotel.” The hotel is inside the Art Deco building that once served as the headquarters of ShanghaiPower Company on Nanjing Road. Built in 1929, this historic building has been connected to a new skyscraper, which houses the hotel’s 145 guestrooms. All public areas—including the restaurants, bars,rooftop spaces, spa and meeting rooms—are located within the Art Deco building. Dining concepts will include Shanghai Tavern, an all-day brasserie, and HIYA, a Japanese restaurant—both by Michelin-starred chef Jason Atherton. The hotel will include executive boardrooms, meeting Rooms and private event spaces.
 

Manchester Central expands its catering offer


Manchester Central has unveiled its new kitchen, allowing the venue to cater for more guests, explore innovative menu concepts and provide clients and visitors with a culinary experience like no other. The new open plan layout, which increases floor space by 20 per cent and production capacity by 50 per cent, ensures the most efficient flow from food delivery to service, guaranteeing freshness and quality. This, coupled with investment in the latest culinary equipment will see the venue produce 95 per cent of its menu items in-house, allowing catering for each and every event to be tailored to suit individual requirements. A new Urban Cultivator, or ‘indoor garden’ means that the team can now grow micro lettuces, herbs and edible flowers to use throughout their extensive range of dishes. Already committed to sustainability, this new addition to the kitchen supports the venue’s pledge to source locally wherever possible.
 

The Vault at the Boundary launches


The Boundary Project, located on Redchurch Street in Shoreditch, has unveiled its new event space The Vault, which is available for corporate and private hire. It is also hosting special festive packages, ideal for December parties.

Hilton to open first hotel at Silverstone


Hilton is due to make its debut at the UK’s premier motor racing venue and has signed a management agreement with Bricks Capital Ltd to open Hilton Garden Inn Silverstone. The 197 guest room hotel, which is due to open in 2020, will include a rooftop terrace and offer race day hospitality experiences for all the major sporting events held at the venue. The hotel will enhance the circuit’s offering outside of the race calendar and have direct access, via a cross-circuit footbridge, to The Silverstone Wing Conference Centre – Silverstone’s iconic event venue, with 12,500 square metres of flexible space for up to 3,000 people.
