Barbican ready to launch cinema venues

The Barbican is offering an evening of glamour on October 30th as it prepares to show-off the recently developed Cinema 2 & 3 spaces. The Fabulously Barbican event is a chance for meetings and events professionals to experience the true capabilities of the venue first-hand. A new partnership and full event service at the Barbican is also set to be showcased on the night. Barbican Business Events has teamed up with Worldspan to deliver additional services to association and corporate clients including: delegate registration and management, production, transport and accommodation. Cinema 2 & 3’s upgrades and refurbishments are part of an on-going development programme at the venue.

Blank Canvas adds two unique venues

London venue management company Blank Canvas has added two new venues to its portfolio: Circus near Old Street tube station and Bankside Studios near Southwark tube station. Blank Canvas now has a total of 15 venues on its books. Bankside Studios’ has an industrial look and feel and is set within two Victorian railway arches. The venue has a poured concrete floor and a mezzanine level and is ideal for photoshoots, parties, private dining and launches. It boasts sanding capacity for 300 and an outdoor area. New venue Circus, is a ‘blank canvas’ space. The venue is a great choice for a range of events including gala dinners, product launches, conferences and award ceremonies. Its high, vaulted, glass ceilings fill the spaces with natural light and the exposed, red brick walls create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The venue boasts standing capacity for 500, a large Courtyard and multiple breakout rooms.

£2 million refurb for Varsity Hotel

The Varsity Hotel & Spa, Cambridge is investing £2m to undertake a full refurbishment of its 44 guest rooms. The scheme will be completed by January and will help the hotel increase trade, which is projected to add 22 jobs to the local economy. The Varsity Hotel & Spa has established itself as a Cambridge institution since opening in 2010. It employs over 100 members of staff and is renowned for its beautiful guest rooms and unparalleled facilities, which includes its spectacular roof terrace. The Varsity is ideally situated in the centre of Cambridge, making it the ideal base for punting, shopping, sight-seeing and nightlife.

Radisson Blu opens in Bordeaux

Radisson Blu has announced its latest hotel opening in the French city of Bordeaux. The 125-room hotel provides stunning views across the magnificent Garonne river, with its prime location just north of the historic city. The hotel features two high-quality restaurants and a sky bar with views out across the city and the nearby river. For meetings and events there is access to five conference rooms and a ball room. the hotel also boasts a spa and wellness facility.

Palazzo Montemartini opens in Rome

Radisson Hotel Group has announced its first Radisson Collection hotel in the heart of Rome. Built in 1881, the historic Palazzo Montemartini is close to the Baths of Diocletian and the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli, designed by Michelangelo. The hotel features 82 rooms and suites. These include the Superior Room and a large Penthouse Suite that boasts a private panoramic terrace. The Palazzo Montemartini is also an ideal venue for events. The spacious rooms filled with natural light include an Infinity Room on the lobby level that hosts up to 180 people, as well as the Penthouse Suite and terrace that offers a unique way to do business. The hotel's beautiful garden space makes an exceptional location for exclusive al-fresco occasions.

Nhow Marseille debuts

NH Hotel Group has celebrated the debut of its nhow brand in France with the inauguration of the nhow Marseille. Nhow Marseille is the Group’s fourth nhow hotel, with seven more in the pipeline including the nhow London, due to open in 2019. The new establishment, previously operating under the NH trademark, has been transformed by Marseille-based architects and representatives of SHPB (Société Hôtelière du Palm Beach.) Nhow Marseille is located on the Corniche waterfront and is an ideal destination on the Mediterranean coast for a memorable corporate event, with 150 rooms - 99 of which have a balcony or terrace. The hotel has 14 meeting rooms - seven of which have sea views - with capacity for up to 421 people and a 322-seat auditorium, all fitted out with the latest technology.

National Science and Media Museum expands

The National Science and Media Museum in Bradford has expanded its events offering with the addition of its 'Make Space room', which boasts views across Bradford city. 'Make Space' can be used as a standalone events space, accommodating up to 70 for a dinner or housing an exhibition to make use of the blank canvas décor and natural light from the panoramic window. Alternatively, clients can also hire Make Space in conjunction with one of the museum’s galleries as an additional area to serve food or provide entertainment during the event, maximising the use of the venue and delivering a multi-room event journey for guests.

The Lume Hotel opens in Manchester

The Lume hotel has celebrated its official opening on Oxford Road in Manchester. The new 19-storey hotel development, which is dual branded with both Crowne Plaza and Staybridge Suites hotel brands, has officially opened and is welcoming its first guests. The newly built 328-room hotel development is owned by M&L Hospitality and managed by Cycas Hospitality. Occupying the lower 12-storeys, Crowne Plaza Manchester features 212 guest rooms, a 120-seat restaurant, bar, fully equipped 24-hour gym, club lounge and seven meeting rooms catering for over 200 delegates.
