Time is running out for meeting venues to prove they have the best technology in the business.

Conference centres and hotels have until 28th February to enter the 2017 Global Digital Infrastructure Award, run by INCON, the international professional congress organisers partnership.

AMI Magazine is official media partner of the award, whose aim is to celebrate and ultimately improve the digital services, including WIFI, currently available in meeting venues around the world.

INCON has built a coalition of strategic partners to support the development and promotion of the award, including suppliers' associations IACC and ICCA, destination alliance BestCities, and trade show IMEX.

Previous award winners include Austria Center Vienna, MCEC (Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre) and Darmstadtium, linked to Darmstadt University of Technology, in Germany.

Roslyn McLeod, INCON co-chair, said: "By giving visibility to the venues that are delivering excellent services we hope to inspire improvements to digital infrastructure across all venues which should be of tremendous value to delegates, clients, meeting planners and to the broader meetings industry”.

Award judge Bob Heile is involved in numerous conferences on WIFI and digital communications and has tested first-hand the quality of digital communications in venues across the world.

“Events turn into disasters when venues do not appreciate the importance of crucial background services like WIFI connections,” he said. “The Award offers an opportunity to showcase venues that have worked really hard to put in place excellent digital infrastructure which permits event planners to deliver even better meetings”.

Heile, together with an international panel of judges, will review the award applications and the winners will be announced at the meetings industry tradeshow IMEX Frankfurt, in May 2017.

The award is free to enter. Application forms can be found here
