Seoul aims to put the quality into subvention

Korean capital wants to reward associations who commit to sustainability

Seoul Convention Bureau's Director Jinhyeok Park

Associations looking to hold their next congress in Seoul are being tempted by a new support package, including financial subsidies, designed to encourage best practice.

Until now international meetings have been eligible for up to KRW 150 million (£110,000) in financial support based on quantitative criteria such as number of delegates and room nights booked.

Now – as part of the ‘See you in Seoul Special’ package - meetings will be eligible for aid if they meet qualitative criteria such as cutting down on paper consumption or using local suppliers.

Besides, financial help, association can qualify for a range of welcome services, such as greeting banners at the airport, specialized tours, and access to MICE supporters, young, bi-lingual individuals to help man registration and information desks etc.

The See You in Seoul Special package adds to already existing support for meeting planners including local bidding support, venue search, and site inspections.
