MPI backs third-party planners in response to commission cuts

Meeting Professionals International develops new group for small business owners in response to recent changes

MPI has developed a new group for small business owners in response to the recent reductions in third party commissions.

In January, Marriott announced it was to cut commissions paid to third-party meeting planners from 10 per cent to 7 per cent for all its US and Canada hotels, with Hilton following suit last month.

MPI has responded to the cuts by developing a new group aimed at the third party meeting planners and small business owners set to be most affected by the changes.
