Smart joins Angela Hartnett to deliver Olympic hospitality

02/08/2011

Smart Event Catering has won a contract to provide food at the Olympic Hospitality Centre, working in conjunction with celebrity chef Angela Hartnett.

The Olympic Hospitality Centre (OHC) will be a central hospitality facility in the Olympic Park for London 2012 marketing partners and their guests. The temporary premises will also include the International Olympic Committee’s Olympic Club and will cover approximately 17,000sqm. It will operate on each day of the Games including the opening and closing ceremonies.

Gordon Ramsay’s protégé Hartnett has been working with Smart as a consultant since the start of the year when the company took over event catering at the Whitechapel Gallery in London.

Last month they collaborated again for an exclusive private preview of the new Bentley Continental at the Kensington Palace Orangery.

Peter Grant, marketing manager UK for Bentley Motors, said: “The visual elegance of the buffet was only eclipsed by the food that was actually delivered. At a private preview of this nature, in such a remarkable location and with an audience of this stature, detail is very important. Angela and Smart were able to deliver a world class culinary experience, that complimented a truly stunning event”.

The event, managed by Smart’s sister company The Full Effect, also incorporated a star appearance by actress Bridgette Neilson, an art and light display by artist Bruce Munroe, unique millinery by Philip Treacy and a performance by opera star Natasha Marsh.

The preview show will be repeated at Pebble Beach in the USA before the car’s official launch in September.

In addition to her partnership with Smart, Angela Hartnett will continue to cook full time at Murano, the Michelin starred Mayfair restaurant she bought from Gordon Ramsay earlier this year.
