Healthy Italian eating at new boutique hotel


Hotel Xenia, a 99-room contemporary boutique hotel, has opened in South Kensington in an artfully restored Victorian building. Facilities include The ‘Living Wall’ bar which features its own garden terrace, private dining and events spaces and a private wine-tasting room. Destination restaurant Evoluzione at Xenia is the first UK establishment to embrace the innovative Cucina Evolution healthy eating concept, pioneered by Italian nutritionist, Chiara Manzi. £10m refurb for The Radisson Blu Hotel Manchester Airport


Work is underway to transform the Radisson Blu Hotel, Manchester Airport as part of a £10m investment programme. The hotel, which originally opened in 1998, is being fully refurbished in three phases. This year, as part of the phase one the hotel’s reception and lobby area, restaurant and bar, 120 Business Class bedrooms and suites, and 27 meeting rooms – will all be given a makeover. Additionally, the existing Observatory Suite will be transformed into a Business Class lounge, complete with private reception and dedicated check-in facility for Business Class guests. Additionally, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant will double in size with three zones, creating space for social, private or individual dining, and boasting airport views. London church launches new event space


Caterers The London Kitchen team and event management specialists Beyond Certainty have launched a new venue in the capital - St Edmund in the City, situated in Lombard Street close to the Bank of England. St Edmund in the City, formerly known as the 'Banker's Church', was a medieval church destroyed in the Great Fire of London of 1666 and then rebuilt by St Paul’s Cathedral architect Sir Christopher Wren. The building is the only church to have taken a direct hit during both world wars and is full of original features and natural daylight. Building centre gets its own renovations


The National Self Build & Renovation Centre (NSBRC) has completed its own renovations. The Swindon-based centre has a number of conference and meeting rooms available which can cater for up to 500 delegates. The space can be used for lectures, seminars, presentations, workshops, breakout meetings and networking sessions, as well as fully-catered lunches, buffets and evening functions. It is possible to book exclusive hire of the entire venue or individual rooms. All delegates also have the opportunity to combine an event with a tour of the permanent features in the centre which includes a renovation zone where you can take an interactive walking tour of a house in need of renovation. Swap the boardroom for a beach


Delegates can swap the boardroom for a beach at Hilton London Heathrow Airport this summer, with its new Barbecue Beach Terrace package for meetings and events. The hotel will be offering a selection of barbecue menus on its sand terrace, complete with a lake, rockery and landscaped gardens. Incorporating a separate paved area for seating, the outdoor space can be used when combining meetings with team building or post-event drinks receptions. Coombe Abbey's marquee boosts event space


The four star Coombe Abbey hotel in Warwickshire has increased its events and meeting space to almost 700sqm after adding a 350 capacity marquee. The multi-purpose space, erected on the hotel’s East Terrace, boasts its own bar, stage and dance floor and is fully carpeted with chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, ivory lining draped on the walls while windows offer views across Coombe Abbey’s grounds and gardens. Hire of the new marquee, the largest of the hotel’s eight function suites, will be priced from £5,000 weekdays and £8,000 weekends. Grand new look at Brighton hotel


Brighton’s The Grand Hotel has unveiled new-look meeting facilities and bedrooms as part of a £5million refurbishment. Work on modernizing all 201 bedrooms is on course to be completed by the end of June, while five meetings rooms and one breakout room with capacity for 15 people have been given a bright new-look. A further breakout room has been added to the hotel’s inventory, taking the number of meetings and event spaces to 15. The work is the culmination of a project which has already seen the 900 capacity Empress Suite and the flexible GB2 given an updated look. An oasis in Chinatown


One Leicester Street is a new boutique hotel located at the former St John Hotel site in the heart of Chinatown, London. The latest project from Singaporean hotelier Peng Loh and chef patron Tom Harris, the property has just 15 guestrooms and a 46-cover restaurant serving ‘the best of British produce’ with a daily changing menu. There is also a bar, which seats 25 and can be privately hired for meetings during the day.
