Magnolia hotel opens in the Algarve

The Magnolia Hotel, a Miami Style Boutique Hotel, has opened in the Algarve. The hotel, which is near Quinto do Lago offers luxurious accommodation, beaches, golf and meetings spaces.The hotel has 74 guest rooms, each complete with a private veranda, 3 suites and 7 exclusive cottages. The wooden cottages contain bedrooms, a bathroom and a lounge, as well as kitchen and patio areas which can accommodate larger groups. For meetings and events spaces, the hotel has access to Quinta do Lago Hotel, allowing visitors to stay at The Magnolia Hotel and use the spaces, as well as all facilities/offerings at Quinta do Lago.

Bloomsbury Ballroom takes events in-house

The Bloomsbury Ballroom has ended its partnership with its previous external event management company and taken the management of all events in-house, with a new dedicated team, in-line with the brand’s planned growth and development. The Bloomsbury Ballroom will now cater for all events and occasions.The ballroom is able to accommodate up to 880 guests within the whole venue as well as many other spaces including The Rose Room, The Long Bar and the lounge.

Austria Center Vienna refurbs third floor

Austria Center Vienna is refurbishing the third floor of its main building to meet growing demand for custom event formats. As well as offering two new conference rooms for 170 and 140 people, and 35 modern offices, the work will focus on the centrepiece of around 600sqm of light-filled and individually usable outdoor spaces with views of the neighbouring Donaupark and United Nations headquarters. This project makes the Austria Center Vienna one of the first congress centres in Europe to create a separate networking level.

New events space at The Science Museum

The Science Museum in South Kensington has announced that its versatile Level 1 space will be available for corporate event hire from November 2017 until April 2018. The 750sqft blank canvas space can host a multitude of events including exhibitions, fashion shows, award ceremonies, product launches, large-scale conferences or seated dinners, all of which can be fully branded by the client. The versatile nature of the space makes it the ideal setting to host experiential events which look to break from the traditional event format and create an engaging experience for guests.Level 1 can accommodate 250 guests cabaret-style, 350 theatre-style and 400 for a reception.
Available for both day and evening hire, The Science Museum’s accredited AV, catering and entertainment suppliers will be on hand to transform the space and deliver an event aligned to a client’s specific requirements.

Step back in time with Goodwood Revival

Goodwood has launched a new corporate event offer, the Goodwood Revival Racing Experience. The experience is an authentic, exhilarating and memorable experience where the craft of driving a classic car can be mastered. The driving experience includes a fleet of eight classic cars, a grid walk and car talk and the exclusive use of the Jackie Stewart Pavilion or Race Control Building. Drivers are welcomed and briefed with a Goodwood Motor Circuit chief instructor and a light breakfast, bowl food lunch and afternoon tea are provided. The fleet of cars includes: Mk II Mini Cooper; BMW 1800 Ti; Ford Cortina; Alfa Romeo GTV; Lancia Fulvia; MGB Hardtop; Ford Falcon and a Porsche 912.

Hallmark invests £1.5m in Birmingham hotel

Hallmark Hotel Birmingham Strathallan has invested more than £1.5 million into refreshing the design of its bedrooms, suites and conference rooms. The refurbishment project, which began in 2016, has seen a £700k investment into modernising the lift structures within the Edgbaston hotel and a further £450k spent on turning 53 of its 135 bedrooms into doubles. Continuing into 2017, the hotel has most recently seen £200k spent on converting 18 of its bedrooms into twins. The work will continue throughout the year, and will incorporate the refurbishment of its Wallace Suite, and six other meeting rooms which together hold up to 170 delegates.

Rudding Park marks 30th with spa meeting deal

Rudding Park is celebrating its 30th birthday with a new ‘Meet with a Spa Retreat’ offering, bringing together the world of work and wellness. The Harrogate property, which has just been named Britain’s best spa hotel by the Sunday Times, launched as a non-residential conference venue in 1987. To mark the occasion delegates can now enjoy a day of meetings with a difference at Rudding Park from just £60 per person. The 90-room hotel boast two restaurants, a private cinema and two golf courses; all set within 300 acres of landscaped gardens and woodland.

Loughborough unveils £7m sports hotel

Loughborough University is investing £7 million in a 44-room four-star Elite Athlete Centre and Hotel (EAC), set to open in autumn 2018. The sports hotel is set to promote rest, relaxation and the pursuit of excellence and will be run by Imago Venues, the university’s dedicated hotel, conference and events provider. It will feature 20 specially designed altitude rooms, eight dedicated accessible bedrooms, a nutrition lounge, café and athletes’ relaxation area and seminar space for 30. Packages will include access to the university’s sports training facilities. Bookings and enquiries can be made from November.
