Dragonfly Africa wins award for orphanage event
Dragonfly Africa has won a prestigious Site Crystal award following a motivational event it organised for Securian financial planners at an orphanage in Zambia.
The Securian group took backpacks filled with educational supplies to the Ebenezer Child Care Trust where they read and played with the children, teaching songs and sharing stories about their lives in their own countries. The children were given an introduction to Western culture, while the Securian employees saw life through the eyes of a Zambian orphan.
Participants said the experience was hugely fulfilling and the vast majority said they would have chosen it over the most elaborate incentive experience.
The children will continue to benefit as the staff will make on-going donations to a trust established by Securian. In return, they will receive updates on the progress of the children, establishing a long-lasting connection.
CEO of Dragonfly Africa, Michael Waller, collected the “Outstanding Sustainable Motivational Experience” award at the 2009 International Site Congress in Aruba.
This is the 4th Site Crystal that has been awarded to incentive travel programmes operated by Dragonfly Africa.
