Make a racquet for good causes
Meetings Industry Meeting Needs is hosting its own charity Grand Slam racquet tournament to raise funds for Hope and Homes for Children. The event, taking place on Wednesday 2 June from 12.30pm at Letchworth Sports & Tennis Club, Hertfordshire, will be a ‘Racketlon’ - a tournament-based racquets event encompassing table tennis, badminton, squash and tennis - but you don’t need to know the rules and won’t need any specialist gear!
The Swiss Convention & Incentive Bureau has been playing mixed doubles with Swissôtel/Fairmont/Raffles Hotels & Resorts to create a fun afternoon open only to UK agencies and clients.
Industry charity MIMN’s fund-raising target for this event is £2,490 to enable Hope and Homes for Children to provide schooling or vocational training for 52 children in Rwanda.
The registration fee is £30 per person, which goes directly to MIMN. You can enter as an individual or as a small team (of 2-4) for the Racketlon competition. The same registration fee is payable for those who would rather not compete, but could augment their audience participation with group tennis clinics, the Schwinn indoor-cycle class or the hi-tech gymnasium with work-out advice from a personal trainer.
It is also possible to register for the evening only, enjoying a Swiss-themed barbecue with the opportunity to win a weekend (including flights) at the Swissôtel Basel with tickets to Davidoff Swiss Indoor Tennis Tournament, or a weekend (including flights) at the new Fairmont Montreux Palace on the Lake Geneva.
