Concerto Group places Japanese Olympians at Stratford Circus

Events specialist The Concerto Group has announced that Japanese athletes competing in the London 2012 Olympics will be based at East London venue, Stratford Circus.

The Concerto Group has worked with the National Agency for the Advancement of Sports and Health (NAASH) and the Japan Institute of Sports Science (JISS) who are assisting in the Japanese athletes’ final preparations for the Games.

The satellite house will be used for training, preparation, recovery, equipment maintenance, communication and light meals. The Concerto Group has also placed the Japanese Olympic Committee into No.4 Hamilton Place (The Royal Aeronautical Society) in Mayfair for the Olympic Games.

A signing ceremony was held and attended by dignitaries including Boris Johnson, mayor of London; Sir Robin Wales, mayor of the London Borough of Newham; Kiyoko Ono president of NAASH and Ken Okaniwa, minister for the Embassy of Japan.

Clare Connor, director of Stratford Circus, said: “Stratford Circus is a world class facility and we are delighted that in 2012 it will become the home to world class athletes from Japan.”
