AEG Europe, operator of The O2 and The SSE Arena, Wembley, has brought together two of its assets in order to maximise the large-scale corporate event potential of both venues. The move also enables the venues to cross-refer business where appropriate.

Becci Thomson, head of corporate sales at The O2 and Jo Peplow-Revell, event sales coordinator at The O2, will work across both venues with the objective of securing new business and exploring opportunities for additional revenue streams.

The O2 and The SSE Arena, Wembley have a long-standing record when it comes to hosting the biggest entertainment and corporate events. The O2 has been home to The BRIT Awards and the National Television Awards for the last seven and eight years respectively. The SSE Arena, Wembley is regularly utilised for the X Factor auditions and recently hosted the MTV EMAs, which was broadcast across 60 channels and over 300 digital platforms globally.

Thomson said: “It’s an exciting time for us as we look to grow the reputation of both venues as the go-to destinations for high-profile events. The venues have experienced teams, as well as the latest in event technology and state-of-the-art production. Now, as sister venues, it provides an unrivalled opportunity for us to cross-refer business and enhance the experience and opportunities we can offer clients.”

The O2 has a range of spaces on offer for large and small events including the 21,000 capacity arena; the American Express Invites Lounge; Building Six, a 3,000 capacity blank canvas space with an outdoor terrace and Indigo at The O2, a live performance space for up to 2,500. In addition The O2 is home to an 11-screen Cineworld complex and 26 bars and restaurants, as well as Up at The O2, an urban mountaineering experience allowing visitors to walk across the roof of the iconic tent. Opened five years ago Up at The O2 welcomes over 100,000 climbers annually and has been used regularly for publicity stunts, teambuilding and television appearances.

The SSE Arena, Wembley’s flat floor main space gives huge flexibility for events, allowing for a fully seated conference or a part-standing format for up to 12,500. A hospitality suite is also available, which can accommodate up to 200 guests.

More intimate formats within the arena are possible, including layouts to suit most sports. A newly installed in-house draping system brings further versatility to the venue, with the ability to quickly deploy vertical draping across any and all of the tiered seating areas. This allows for a range of capacities whilst retaining a full arena look and atmosphere.
