A new international association aims to target the industry’s senior corporate decision-makers.

The Geneva-based United Networks of International Corporate Event Organisers (UNICEO) is open to membership for ‘seniors responsible for corporate events organisation in blue chip international companies’, while association organisers will be accepted under certain conditions.

Currently, 12 per cent of the association’s membership is UK-based. Pedro Dalmases, communications manager, said: “The initiative comes from a group of seniors decision-makers responsible for the planning, organisation, marketing, communication and procurement for corporate events.

“Marketing and communication budget reductions, evolution of the demand and the advent of new digital technologies have forced them to exert greater control over their suppliers, particularly intermediaries leading to a significant increase in their workload and new needs for strategic, operational and management solutions.

“UNICEO was conceived with the objective of enabling its members to make the most of collective intelligence and to adapt to a constantly changing business environment.”

The association, which claims to be the first of its kind for organisers from large corporates , will offer networking opportunities, knowledge and skill sharing. At its first general assembly, Debora Piovesan, from Italian company Daiichi Sankyo, was elected as UNICEO International’s first vice president.
