MOI Global has shown it can handle the heat as it took home the spoils in ExCeL London's third annual Great Agency Bake Off.

The agency team - MOI's Natasha Ient, Hayley Norman and ExCeL's head of business development Jane Hague - were undisputed winners after nailing two baking challenges; beetroot chocolate brownies and avocado and chocolate macaroons.

They beat fellow agency teams from the likes of Crown, Communique, drp and Grass Roots Meetings & Events as the group of events professionals rolled their sleeves up for the tasty event.

Ient said: "We weren't quite sure we were going to win after our brownies came out of the oven. The macaroons won it for us. I think our secret was having an eye for detail, and having Hayley on our team."

Hague added: "I've always come last, so clearly my secret weapon were these girls. It's been really fun. We have worked together a bit; we did an event this year and we're working on one for next year, so it's nice to spend some time together outside the traditional event delivery context."

ExCeL executive director James Rees said the annual bake off was a chance for the venue to connect with its agency colleagues.

"The thing that never ceases to amaze me is how competitive everyone is.

"It's supposed to be fun and a chance to get some down time with our friends in the agency world. But they arrive and there's this overwhelming will to win," he laughed.

"That competitive spirit is what carries the events industry forward though. With all the global challenges we face at the moment, it just demonstrates we've still got this incredible and robust industry.

"Days like this are unique and, while still work-related, a chance for agencies and our team to spend a few hours out of the office and get to know each other better. And everyone who does it loves it."
